In Winter Garden, shops are busiest on Monday mornings and before holiday weekends, so a mid-week appointment gets a car seen faster. Labor rates across Florida vary by neighborhood and by shop type, from small independents to dealership service bays, and mobile mechanics now cover many routine jobs in the driveway. Before authorizing a repair, ask for the estimate in writing, whether the shop warranties parts and labor (12 months / 12,000 miles is common, some offer more), and whether it can provide a loaner or a shuttle. Check the listing for hours, the makes the shop works on and its Google rating, then call ahead, since walk-in capacity is limited at smaller shops.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Central FL Machine & Speed at (407) 877-2800; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 87 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded auto machine shops in Winter Garden.

They do decent work but took 2 years to get my block done, and when I finally got it back the old freeze plugs had been pushed through and left inside. They did quality machine work to the block for sure, no doubt about that. But getting them to actually DO the work required me to call them every couple of days for nearly a year, and to get a block back with freeze plugs clanking around inside the passages just sucked and was super frustrating. Had heard so many good things about this shop and the quality of the machine work was great, but I won't be taking anything there again.

Very very nice guy to do business with. Exceptional customer service and knowledgeable team. I came into the shop today to have cam bearings installed in a Chevy 4.3 V6 block. Little did I know, the camshaft was slightly warped as well. He straightened it out for me and even polished the journals on the cam to make sure it would spin smoothly in the bearings. He had this all done for me in less than two hours! On top of that, prices are very reasonable. I live about 45 minutes away and there are other machine shops closer to me but I will be traveling the distance to go to this machine shop from now on for all my machine shop needs. Thank you...

Was recommended to these gentlemen after I had an engine built somewhere else and failed. Robert was upfront and direct with all the info provided. They did take a little longer than expected however Robert did say that this may happen and to give him a call anytime, was never bothered by my calls to him. Instead provided me with updates every time. Greatly appreciated and I will def have these guys build me another engine if need be. Wish I knew about them sooner.
